DANCE CLASS OFFERINGS

JUNIOR DIVISION CLASSES 

Ballet/Modern Combination Class - Ages 9-11

Each week students will learn and build upon the techniques of both classical ballet and modern/contemporary dance.  Classes are structured beginning with a warm up  teaching technique and vocabulary, and progresses to across floor combinations and mini dances.  Both styles are practiced each week.

SENIOR DIVISION CLASSES for Ages 12-18 - Dancers are placed according to age & ability

Ballet & Pointe* Classes

Our ballet program is the foundation of our school.  A student properly trained in ballet with have the discipline, technique and strength to succeed in all other dance forms.  We believe strongly in teaching our students proper body placement to promote a strong, healthy body, as well as a love for the artistry and beauty of this classical art form.  All ballet classes begin with barre exercises and progress to center and across floor combinations. 

 

* Pointe work is done as part of Ballet II and Ballet III for eligible pointe students. All pointe students MUST take a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week.

Modern/Contemporary**

These classes explore the various movement possibilities modern and contemporary dance have to offer.  Students will learn the fundamentals and history of the modern dance art form and explore styles such as Horton, Limon, Humphrey, & Duncan.  Floor work, improvisation and partner work are also a part of these classes.

 

Deuxmensions Youth Performance Company***

The Repertoire & Performance class is for members of our Youth Performance Company, ages 13-18.  These rehearsals are spent learning and rehearsing choreography which will be presented at various performances in which the company participates throughout the year.  Rehearsals are held the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.

*** DYPC Members MUST be at least 13 years old, in Ballet II or higher, AND take a minimum of 1 ballet and 1 modern technique class per week

ADULT DIVISION CLASSES

Adult Ballet II (intermediate/advanced)

This Ievel class is designed for dancers ages 18+ with previous dance experience who wish to continue their classical ballet training.  Class is structured with a balance of barre and center work, across the floor combinations, and learning choreography.
