DANCE CLASS OFFERINGS

JUNIOR DIVISION CLASSES for dancers in preschool through age 12
Pre Ballet - Preschoolers ages 3-5
This class provides an introduction to classical ballet technique and vocabulary in a nurturing, creative setting. Material taught alternates between structured ballet exercises and creative movement. Pre Ballet classes promote developing body awareness and large muscle skills.
Tap/Ballet Combination Classes - Ages 5-12
Each week students will learn and build upon the techniques of both classical ballet and tap. Classes are structured beginning with a warm up which teaches technique and vocabulary and progresses to across floor combinations and mini dances. Both styles are practiced each week.
Additional Technique Classes for Junior Division Students*
Students start building and expanding upon the fundamentals of other dance techniques, including jazz, modern/contemporary, and hip hop.
Classes are structured beginning with a warm up which teaches technique and vocabulary, and then progresses to movement combinations done across floor and in center.
* Please note: Junior Division dancers MUST be enrolled in a Tap/Ballet class in order to take Jazz
Deuxmensions' Junior Performance Company***
These Saturday classes are spent learning and rehearsing choreography which will be presented at various performances in which the company participates throughout the year.
*** JPC Members MUST be at 7-12 years old, AND take a minimum of 1 ballet plus 1 other technique class per week
SENIOR DIVISION CLASSES for Ages 12-18 - Dancers are placed according to age & ability
Ballet & Pointe* Classes
Our ballet program is the foundation of our school. A student properly trained in ballet technique with have the discipline, technique and strength to succeed in all other dance forms. We believe strongly in teaching our students proper body placement to promote a strong, healthy body, as well as a love for the artistry and beauty of this classical art form. All ballet classes begin with barre exercises and progress to center and across floor combinations.
* Pointe work is done as part of Ballet B and Ballet C for eligible pointe students. All pointe students MUST take a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week.
Tap/Jazz Combination Classes**
Students study 45 minutes of each style within their hour and a half class. Level-appropriate technique is taught each week as well as across floor and center combinations.
Modern/Contemporary**
These classes explore the various movement possibilities modern and contemporary dance have to offer. Students will learn the fundamentals and history of the modern dance art form and explore styles such as Horton, Humphrey & Duncan. Floor work, improvisation and partner work are also a part of these classes.
** Senior Division dancers MUST be enrolled in a ballet class in order to take the above tap, jazz or modern/contemporary classes
Deuxmensions' Youth Performance Company***
The Repertoire & Performance class is for members of our Youth Performance Company, ages 13-18. These Saturday classes are spent learning and rehearsing choreography which will be presented at various performances in which the company participates throughout the year.
*** YPC Members MUST be at least 13 years old, in Ballet B or higher, AND take a minimum of 2 ballet plus 1 other technique class per week
